Types of Seeds

Open-pollinated - plants that produce seeds that can be collected and replanted year after year to get the same variety as the year before.

Hybrid - often patented, hybrids are bred purposefully to produce a very specific crop just one time. You can save the seeds, but they won’t grow to produce the same variety the next year.

CMS hybrid - these seeds rely on patented techniques and germplasm. The hybrids created through this process produce offspring with sterile pollen or none at all.
